CHAPTER 9

5 ^aFor every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with ^bburning and fuel of fire.

HEB When the whole battle . . . was with confused noise, and . . . blood.

This ‘burning’ is to be the cleansing of the earth by fire prior to the setting up of the Messianic kingdom.

1 ^aFor behold, the day cometh that shall ^bburn as an oven; and all the ^cproud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble; and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of Hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
