Satan spreads rumors and contentions—sometimes based partially on truth—to turn people against God and all good (Hel. 16: 22; JS-H 1: 1). One of the signs of the second coming of Jesus Christ is that people will talk of wars and rumors of wars (Matt. 24: 6; D&C 45: 26; JS-M 1: 23).
