Wealth or abundance. The Lord counsels the Saints not to seek for worldly riches except to do good. The Saints must not put seeking worldly riches before seeking the kingdom of God, which holds the riches of eternity (Jacob 2: 18-19).

If riches increase, set not your heart upon them, Ps. 62: 10. Riches profit not in the day of wrath, Prov. 11: 4. He that trusteth in his riches shall fall, Prov. 11: 28. A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, Prov. 22: 1. How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God, Mark 10: 23 (Luke 18: 24-25). Love of money is the root of all evil, 1 Tim. 6: 10. Wo unto the rich who despise the poor and whose treasure is their god, 2 Ne. 9: 30. The righteous did not set their hearts on riches but shared with all, Alma 1: 30. The people began to be proud because of riches, Alma 4: 6-8. People were distinguished by ranks, according to their riches, 3 Ne. 6: 12. Seek not for riches but for wisdom, D&C 6: 7 (Alma 39: 14; D&C 11: 7). The riches of the earth are God’s to give, but beware of pride, D&C 38: 39.
