14 I will be his ^afather, and he shall be my ^bson. If he commit iniquity, I will ^cchasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

  18 Poverty and ^ashame shall be to him that refuseth ^binstruction: but he that regardeth ^creproof shall be honoured.

  6 For whom the Lord loveth he ^achasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

  3 Yea, wo unto this ^apeople who are called the ^bpeople of Nephi except they shall repent, when they shall see all these signs and wonders which shall be showed unto them; for behold, they have been a chosen people of the Lord; yea, the people of Nephi hath he loved, and also hath he ^cchastened them; yea, in the days of their iniquities hath he chastened them because he loveth them.

  4 Therefore, they must needs be ^achastened and tried, even as ^bAbraham, who was commanded to offer up his only son.

  4 And that those who call themselves after my name might be ^achastened for a little season with a sore and grievous chastisement, because they did not ^bhearken altogether unto the precepts and commandments which I gave unto them.

  2 And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the ^achastisement of the Lord your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,

  6 And my people must needs be ^achastened until they learn ^bobedience, if it must needs be, by the things which they ^csuffer.

  14 For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not ^aexpelled from him.

  13 There hath no temptation ^ataken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be ^btempted above that ye are able; but will with the ^ctemptation also make a way to ^descape, that ye may be able to ^ebear it.
