Amulets fastened on the forehead, or on the left arm. They were small strips of parchment inscribed with texts (see Ex. 13: 1-10, 11-16; Deut. 6: 4-9; Deut. 11: 13-21) and enclosed in leather cases (see Matt. 23: 5).
